A brief overview

I completed my Honours degree in Marketing at Strathclyde Business School, achieving a 2:1. (For my dissertation I investigated the importance of trade shows, travelling to shows in Glasgow, London and Frankfurt to interview exhibitors and organisers.)

While I was at university, I gathered experience in as many ways as I could. I worked as Alumni Relations Marketing and Communications intern for over two years, as a student caller fundraising for the Alumni Fund Autumn Telethon, and as a summer intern for a book festival. I’ve also spent a month in the marketing department at the headquarters of a larger German B2B firm.

After graduation I first worked as a German localisation tester, which involved checking for spelling, grammar and cultural errors in video games. Most recently, I worked for one of the largest digital agencies in Glasgow with a focus on writing.

I enjoy volunteering in a variety of ways. I’m in my 6th year on the Fencing Club committee, currently as Development Officer and previously as Secretary (2013-15)and Social Convenor (2015-17). While studying, I was part of a student mentoring scheme for secondary pupils and on the ‘Welcome Team’ helping new students settle in at university.  I have also been a Brownie Young Leader, Young Enterprise company Marketing Director and editor of my school’s magazine.

I speak fluent German (I’m bilingual and moved to Scotland when I was 10) and have experience with creating web copy and content for social media, as well as with Adobe Photoshop, WordPress, HootSuite, Mac OS, basic HTML, SEO and analytics.

I love writing and I’m an excellent proofreader, so much so that I’m often called on for my expertise to read over and edit important emails, essays, CVs, cover letters and job applications by friends.

My varied experience, gained from previous roles, volunteering, working on university projects and through my hobbies, has prepared me well for different working environments. I can fit in with large or small teams, am capable of working independently and taking initiative, and bring my own perspective and ideas to the table.
